Epoxy Cup With Alcohol Inks

Hi friends,

I desperately needed a new travel cup/tumbler, but I prefer a screw on lid, I just think they last longer without the seal breaking. Well, I stopped in Dunkin’ Donuts and seen they had some tumblers (only $15.99), it was a good price so I bought it.

Used it for a couple of days, then thought, yeah I think I want to epoxy it and put a vinyl decal on it with a saying that my Great Aunt always said.

There is a minor cuss word in there, so hopefully you are not offended by it. My Great Aunt passed away on Oct 17, so I thought this would be a fun way to remember her and a reminder of her great sense of humor.

Here are the steps:

  • Sand down cup
  • Wash and let dry
  • Spray paint
  • Apply a thin layer of epoxy
  • Add alcohol inks ( I used blue, yellow, orange and white)
  • Let cure
  • Clean inside of cup from any epoxy
  • Apply vinyl decal
  • Epoxy and let cure
  • Clean inside of cup from any epoxy
  • Apply epoxy ( I used a very small amount of glitter so the cup had a bit of sparkle to it)
  • Clean any epoxy from inside, and wash well with dish soap.
  • Fill with your favorite beverage and enjoy!

I could not be happier with how the cup turned out. I love the mixture of the ink colors. The only thing I didn’t consider before choosing the ink colors was the lid color. It is a pinkish/red color, so I wish I would of added that color with the alcohol inks. But, it is what it is, and like I said, I really like the way the finished cup looks. Hopefully you can see the glitter here, it is very subtle.

Have a great day my friends, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs, Stacy
